During my Japan trip this year, I had a wonderful opportunity to do concert photograpghy.

A band named JUNED allowed me to take pictures of their gig in Shibuya. I was really excited when they said yes. Because I asked a few other bands and they either: never replied back or said they aren't touring during the dates I'll be in japan.

Their performance was amazing! I really liked their music.

It's really different with how the crowd acts, comparing to the western crowd to the asian crowd.

Recent Note: Recently news on their website, the band has broken up *sad face*. This is very sad news as they played wonderful music and I was hoping of taking more pictures of them when I go to Japan again.

Meet the band members! )
I hope I can continue doing concert photography in other countries, esprecially Japan. It was really fun to see the different environment.
I really liked the stage lights in Japan more than Sydney Australia. It seemed more bright and more easier to work with.

Hello everyone,
Been behind with posting entries since getting back from Japan. There will be a few post of gigs I've been to.
Thanks to a friend, on flickr I will post max 50 pictures. Because if I post more, like with Led Zeppelin folder, everyone won't look at all the pictures.

---------------------------------------------------

Went to the gig at Gaelic Club on 13th March 2009.
Opening act was The Next and the main act was The International Led Zeppelin Project.
It was an awesome old school music night.

The picture above. This person is always in the city. I've always seen him around but never spoke to him until on Friday night. He's a very nice person ^^
I wish I took a picture which was not to close... but I only had 50mm len.. and there were people around me so I couldn't move back >_<

But back to the post! He came from Korea. He likes Australia because everyone is always happy and smiling. He said he's been to Melbourne too ^^

All day, he stand on an item, to make him appear tall. He would spin the hula hoop all day (very talented!). He claps his hands now and then.

I know a lot of people would think he's weird and wondering why he's doing this all day. But people have to make a living and he enjoys doing he's preformance all day.

On Friday night, I went to the Manning Bar in Sydney Uni.
Jim White and John Doe was preformancing.
It was Jim's first gig in Australia. He's a very funny person and he knows how to entertain the crowd =) He's music is very interesting and the tools he uses to create it is very interesting too.
He records the sound, then pushes a peddle to active the same sound. I thought this was very creative!

This is a picture of Jason Walker preforming as the opening act.

Brought a cake last week from 85o (85degrees). The cake was called Hokkaido strawberry cake.
It's a sponge cake (my fave!) and made from Hokkaido cheese with strawberry jam ^__^ It was very tasty.

This is the packaging. I think it's very cute. They even up a plastic spoon in the box.

This is a picture of the cake! YUM!!!

Hi everyone!
This is a post about random pictures I took with my mobile phone. My phone is a 2.0px camera...so the quality is bad. So, I can't wait until I can get a new phone in April!

Most of the pictures are of food.. why? because food is delicious!!

Here's a picture of the cocktails & mocktail my friends and I ordered! YUM!!!!
All the drinks are from a place called Kuletop's in Newtown. First time I went to this place and I hope I can go back again!
I never knew there was a cocktail bar and it's awesome!

Went to Nan Tien Temple in January with my family. I go each year and take photos around the place. Nothing really changes, but it's just fun and a nice trip.

I like this picture and happy it turned out nice. Each year, people get to write a message on the card (need to pay to do this). You can see in the background a lot of lanterns XD

Last night was my workplace's Christmas Party. It was fun and everyone had fun. The only bad thing was the service at the place. The dinner was at Bavarian Bier Cafe in Sydney.

You can see the pictures here

After the party, I decided to take pictures of things.. I always thought it looked interesting, like under the LJ cut

Friday night, I went to the Metro Theatre for the first time and to cover the Witness Festival. It had 7 artist playing during the night and finished just after midnight. The artist line up was All ManKind, EL Shaddai Crew, Angelas Dish, Playjerise, Lukas, Nikki Kummerow and New Empire. I was assigned to cover Angelas Dish.

You can go to my Flickr to see more more pictures from the event here.

Here's a short review of each of the artist because I'm lazy to write a long paragraph:
- The night started off with El Shaddai Crew, they were rappers. It was the first time I heard people rapping songs about god and jesus. It was interesting.
- Nikki Kummerow was a solo singer, playing with an acoustic guitar. She had some nice songs.
- LUKAS was next. I enjoyed their performance and their songs. It was rock and they even got some people in the crowd moving.
-
All Mankind looked older than the other artists that night. They were okay but their music reminded me of The KIllers style.
- New Empire was rock band too. I liked their music. The lead singer nearly knocked over the mic stand but saved it. He smiled made a funny comment and went on playing. It's good to see artist going with the flow and joking during their preformace.
- Second last act was Playjerise. I think they had more of a crowd than anyone else during the night (Unless 1/2 of the crowd needed to go to sleep by 11.30pm, which was when they finished). Their music was acoustic style. I thought it was interesting how one of the guitarist was using he's acoustic guitar as a drum beat. He would hit the guitar to create a different sound. I haven't seen that style for a while. Their music was very enjoyable and I hope to see more of their music.
- Last was Angelas Dish. They rocked the night as the final act. They had a few old members in the crowd. I heard a lot of people saying 'They are playing the old stuff, yeah!' I'm a type of person who will enjoy the old music too.

Overall, it was a good night with a good vibe. There was no pushing in the crowd and everyone was friendly and there to have fun.

Yesterday was John and Libbie's wedding day. It was amazing and a very enjoyable wedding ^___^ I don't go to wedding much, but I had the most fun in this wedding ^__^
I won't post the people pictures from the wedding on this journal as I don't know if I'm allowed, but you can see the picture on flickr

I took most of the pictures in manual mode. I'm trying to shoot more in Manual so I can understand how to operate the camera.
I shot all the pictures with my 50mm lens. I was lazy to change to a zoom ^^;

Last night, I went to Annandale Hotel. The night started off with Fraud Millionaires, Amali Ward and then Watussi. It was a fun night.
You can see the pictures on my flickr

First off was Fraud Millionaires. I enjoyed their music and their preformance. I hope to see more of them in the future. Their sound has a mixture of reggae and rock, you can groove to all their tracks. John (lead vocal) gave me their CD =) Thank you very much John! It's a fantasic album.
You can visit their myspace site here

Next was Amali Ward, she's very pretty =) I'm happy the pictures came out really well.
I didn't know she was in the top 10 in Australian Idol, but I don't watch TV much anymore.
Her music style is upbeat and has a nice pop and R&B sound. I hope to see more of her music in the future.
You can visit her website here

Last was Watussi. Their music is Afro-Colombian Rock and Roots.
As they were the main act, everyone was grooving to their music.
The band members are very energetic on stage and it always good to see that because I will try harder to capture their movements.

This was my first contribution for Fasterlouder.
I was very excited when I got the job and I'm happy with the turn out of the pictures. Overall, the night had good music, good people, good drinks and good pictures!
I have a lot to learn about photography and I will keep on practicing!

There were four bands playing. They were Lovers Electric, The Jezabels, Flamingo Crash and Mercy Arms.

Warning: Under the LJ cut there will be a lot of pictures

First up was Lovers Electric a pop duo. They said they were from Adelaide. I liked their sound, it was like a mixture of pop and electro. I really liked it how they used different instruments, like a tiny piano!
I really hope they have a successful career ^_^
Visit their website here: http://www.loverselectric.com/

Next up was The Jezabels. They are a Sydney band. They had a nice sound. I'm not a big fan of how the female singer sung when I first heard them on myspace, but listening to them live, their music grew on me.
You can visit their myspace here

The Jezabels pics )

Next up was Flamingo Crash. They were the main feature of the night. They had the most crowd/fans too.
This band had a very funky sound. They got the crowd bopping to their music.
You can check out their myspace here

Flamingo Crash pics )

Last band playing was the Mercy Arms. I thought they had a raw/basic sound (like the music didn't sound very polished.. can't describe it well), reminded me like the band Evermore. Not a fan of when the instruments have a lot of echo/fading sound. It's okay once in a while but not for every song.

Last stop was visiting a band called Elevation U2 Tribute. It's the first time I've seen a tribute show in real life and I'm really happy with the result! The show was awesome and I recommend everyone to see it!

The crowd at the pub was a very happy bunch. They were dancing to the music and singing along. A lot of people really got into it and there were lots of happy faces.

I would like to thank you Steve (aka. Sydney's Bono) for allowing me to take pictures of the band.

Next stop was Joel Sarakula at Hotel Chambers.

Joel has an amazing voice and he's very talented as a pianist. He's at the Hotel Chambers every Friday night (minus public holidays =P), playing people's request and playing awesome songs like from the movie Grease. I was tempted to ask him to play Brick by Ben Folds Five, but people were shouting out other request hehe.

It was a fun and cheerful atmosphere in the Hotel Chambers. People got up to dance and sang along to the songs Joel played. Joel was very polite to everyone who came to the venue. I love it when musician's are down to earth.

I'll like to take you Joel for allowing me to take pictures of him last night =)

To hear he's music or see him live, you can visit he's myspace website at: http://www.myspace.com/sarakula

After work I decided to test my Nikon out on local acts around the city.

First was Caramel.
They were playing upbeat pop music which was easy to groove with. It's always good to see bands getting up on stage and having fun.

I don't have their website, but when I do find it I'll post it up here. They will be performing in The ArtHouse next month too.

I'll like to thank you Ben, who was the manager in The ArtHouse for letting me take these pictures. It's the first time I have ever asked
